06 May VIRALOGY : A Mad disease
There’s not a single doubt that nowadays people don’t need to be very talented in order to get famous while Small Artists are struggling to get a job in the Entertainment industry. The Singers, Dancers and Musicians are working day and night so that they can enhance the reach of their talent. There is one segment of population which is to say is ‘getting famous in a single night’ and Who are these people? Are they Artists ? Well, that is what they call themselves but we all know what the reality is.
With the trending of Tiktok everyone started chasing the App to showcase their capabilities and potential at their individual level, Having the expectation in mind that someday they will also get famous. In that hope, many rather didn’t get famous but Utterly Free and unproductive. People started making short videos of dance, singing, Dubbing, mimicking, Acting and what not!. While tiktok did give many local artists the platform to express their hidden talent. Soon It got banned and Replaced by other Apps like Rizzle, Instagram reels, Moj, Triller etc. serving the similar purpose.
However, We can also find Genuine artistic talent getting the chance on numerous occasions but their proportion to the one’s with No Real talent is lower than ever. Some cases are not artistic at all, they just know how to add the spice into their video even when it requires them to do something ‘obscene or Vulgar’. Whether it’s a kid singing about their childhood Love or a Peanut vendor selling peanuts in an unusual way. Both of them got famous overnight and that is not it, we all have seen Singers with no rhythm in their voice get more famous than the One’s whose Voice are actually a melody to the ears. Singers like Osho Jain, Shirley setia and Suzonn are few of the Singers Who have Delightfully soothing tone to their songs but are still not as famous as probably ‘Dhinchak pooja’ Who just had to ride on a scooter, wearing a dope cap to get famous on YouTube.
The science of this ‘viralogy’ has become very simple to understand for the people with no real skill as if they’ve found a cheat code for it. On the other hand, the Rawest of talent is still in the Game and is not able to level up.
It’s saddening and makes me Question. As Human’s having the ability to use our Intelligence. Have we become so Stupid? to be chasing this weird content that once weirder content comes, the old one’s get wiped off automatically and people are finding it entertaining and sharing it even more like it makes sense, when it really doesn’t.
It can be said that viralogy as a phenomenon might exist in the foreseeable future and As hilarious as it seem We might even be getting the classes on how to get viral! who knows. We as a Generation might be able to witness this come True because we can make really Anything go Viral.
But still internet doesn’t always serves us in a bad sense. We also have a number of good examples like a teenager in Brazil named Iran Ferreira getting famous and empowered. He uploads short videos on Instagram and YouTube of him playing football and expressing the raw talent and love he has for the game. In this case, Many professional footballers are copying his style and motivating him to keep on going on the internet with him gaining 7 million followers on Instagram and 1.19 million followers on YouTube.
This goes on to say a lot about the power of internet if one uses it not to simply get VIRAL !. We have to be more conscious about the technology that comes handy to our generation. Internet is a place where one can get the best to the most worst kind of content. The type of information we feed to our minds, shapes our day to day lives. Like the food for our body, content is the food for our souls and our minds. Thus, it becomes our responsibility to take care of this temple by keeping it clean, clear and far distant from the dirt or otherwise the sense will turn into an actual nonsense.
