How to write resume for media job ?

In the competitive media and journalism industry, it is important to have a media resume to get noticed, because you will be competing with a lot of people around you. It is not just a document; it is a tool for marketing yourself by highlighting your skills, your qualifications, and your experiences so that the interviewee is able to identify your worth.

It is not difficult to do so, Here are some tips to craft a perfect resume :-

Basic details – Firstly, it is very important to mention basic details in your CV including, your name, address, contact details, qualification, and age, etc., so that the interviewee can contact you easily. More so, to make your resume more creative and effective you can add your photograph so that the interviewee can recognize you easily.  

 

Highlight your Selling Points  – Your skills are your unique selling points, by writing them in bullet points it gets highlighted and catches the reader’s eyes quickly.
In your skills you must include all your skill sets because in this era, being a journalism student you must be a multi-tasking person. For example, an anchor should know about how to write scripts, research and delivery information with confidence and efficiency. Also, it is important to write a resume on the basis of first person but do not use the words “I”, “me”, “my”, etc.

Experience – This is the most important part of your resume, sometimes people get embarrassed by adding the name of a small organization name in their CV if they have worked in any, don’t be! Your experience matters; they should know what you have done earlier. By adding experiences like what you have done before like job, internship, freelance work in it. It will give a huge impact to your CV. If you want to give a creative touch to your resume you can add your accomplishments or rewards in it.

 

Cover letter – To beautify your resume you can attach a cover letter with it, it will give a nice and professional effect and give opportunity include details that your resume doesn’t contain. For example: – if you are applying from a distance, your cover letter will be able to mention details like you will be in the area for shortly for in-person interview.
